Madrid Airport Transportation

Visitors to Madrid are offered different means of accessing the city center from the Madrid Airport, the Barajas. These transport means include Aerocity, taxi, AresMobile, Metro, bus and car rental.

– Aerocity is a more specialized type of taxi that you reserve online. You are then picked from the Barajas in a 7-seater van, air conditioned, comfortable and aptly mobile, and taken to wherever your destination may be. For three passengers the cost is 23 Euros and generally 6.50 Euros for an individual.

– Aresmobile is a chance to be chauffeur-driven, a meet service that is also reserved prior to arrival in Madrid Airport. One is met at the airport, within the airport’s arrival hall, by a chauffeur who speaks English or any other specified common language. The personalized comfort of chauffeur-driven excursions and tours has charges beginning at only 65 Euros.

– Bus You can also take a bus to the Madrid central business district using the regular bus services tagged No.200, that depart from the Terminal 2, passing through Terminal 1, prior to heading for the interchange Avenida de America, the bus’ last stop, from where you can use the Metro. Such a trip with the bus costs only a Euro and it is even possible to purchase a Metro ticket within the bus.

– Car rental services are provided by all the main companies dealing with rental cars in the Madrid Airport such as Avis, Hertz and Europcar, with their offices being between the first and second arrival halls or Terminal 1.

– Always reserve your car in advance for a cheaper cost.

– Metro You can access the Madrid Airport’s Metro stations from the new Terminal T4 or Terminal T2. The train leaves after every five minutes from 6 in the morning to 2 in the morning. Line 8 goes right to the new Nuevos Ministerios Metro at the heart of Madrid, a journey of only about 12 minutes.

– Taxi While exiting the airport, just walk outside the terminal and right to the Madrid Airport taxi ranks. Avoid accepting offers from drivers within the terminal mostly because they are illegal drivers and you might just get ripped off really bad. Depending on the conduct of the traffic, you might end up paying about 25 Euros while going to any main location in the center.

– Online taxi bookings can be more expensive but safe. When you make online reservations always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud and be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (hotmail, gmail, yahoo, aol, etc). If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
